Germany said that its position on the Falkland Islands dispute has not changed, following claims by Argentina that Lufthansa's request for two flights to the Islands, in support of a polar research expedition, implied recognition of the archipelago as Argentine territory. Read full article

Time to repeat me yesterday's comment on a previous thread...:

***“-The usual procedural politeness between German and Argentinean aerospace authorities...
    - The usual procedural politeness between the A.W.I. and the I.A.A...
    - The usual “truth-divergent” Pom & Argie political points of view...
    - Yet..., them Anglos in here get their knickers in a twist and raise an eyebrow...!!!

    Chuckle..., chuckle... ”***

Think I suspect the truth is that the airline merely notified Arg Air Saftey authorities of the flight as the area down past Argentina and outside territorial waters over this side of the south Atlantic falls under Argentine Search and rescue control - and it would be a bit dumb of any airline not to do so! Same reason Arg well knows the usual flight path of the regular flights from UK to Falklands. Common international safety sense.
I don't think similar rules apply to shipping though and doubt that story - just a silly Arg politician,s fantasy.

And DF's childlike claims of a change in political thinking in Germany are shown up for the sheer fantasy they are. Wonder if he will issue a clarification ??

    Think
“A German foreign ministry spokesman said the federal government’s position on the Falkland Islands had not changed.
“The activities of private companies cannot be attributed to the Federal Republic of Germany and have no international consequences,” he said.”

Well that's pretty cut and dried, so you peed your pants over nothing.

    Mr. Timlander1...

Always a pleasure answering your comments..., even if we do disagree 'bout a couple of minor details like the squatting on other Man's land..., or them Lasses right to decide over their own reproductive system...

You are almost completely right about the civilian flights reporting and permission requests...
Let me just add a couple of things...:
    - 1) It would not only be..., as you say above...: ***“ A bit dumb of any airline not to do so!”***..., it would be completely illegal (and infinitely stupid) not to do so...!
    - 2) Argentina could have been ***“A huuuuuuuuuge bit dumb”*** and deny any permission and alternative landing but..., as we have an excellent relationtship with them Aryans and we want to keep it that way......................

In respect of ze German icebreaker “RV Polarstern” navigation permit...:
    - The excellent relationship of mutual benefit that exist between the Aryan A.W.I. and the Argie I.A.A..., resulted in ze Germans automatic request..., as per Argie Decree 256/2010...
    No more..., no less...

Any doubts you may have about what was said (and not said) about the issue..., pls refer...:

We can, as usual, trust the Argentine government

    to tell any insane lie

We can also, as usual, trust Shrinkbrain

    to support the nonsense.

I was just sampling a wonderful Aconcagua Merlot here in Panquehue when we felt another strong jolt.

Apparently Mendoza had a 4.2 quake...

    Estimado THINK & Pugol-TTWH

Pachamama like all women are easily comfortable to coexist with when they often show their frequent mild displeasure. (Gentle quiet women should always be feared.)

All hell breaks loose when women in quiet anger repress quietly their anger — until one enourmous cataclysmic release of fury...

    Have a pleasant Sunday afternoon.

    ¡Saludos de Panquehue!
