Well said Chicureo, Argentina cannot afford to Waste Money on something that they don`t need and have No use for ! Russian Military equipment is Notorious for the amount of time and effort it takes to maintain ! just stick with the Pampa.
You mentioned you have a girlfriend and although I’m not advising you on your love life — Valentine’s Day is coming soon.
Chocolates or flowers can reap memorable benefits…
Although the purchase was originally thought in advance for Madame’s birthday in April — her “Valentine’s gift” arrived surprisingly earlier this week.
As I’ve mentioned — the feminine members of our gypsy clan are avid equestrians and ma mariée has always admired French saddles (which generally are made in Argentina) but her particular favorite is still hand crafted in Saumur France.
I would have thought buying a saddle direct from the quirky French would be excruciatingly difficult — and ordering a bespoke saddle to be impossible to arrive early— yet today via our highly efficient customs broker — the work-of-art arrived early to the farm office.
Although nothing as ridiculous as Hermès — Butet is one of the top-of-the-range saddlers in the world and their customer service is truly nonpareil.
(Besides the special embossment of her name in the premium leather — an antitheft tracking microchip was installed.)
As it’s farm equipment delivered to our farm — technically there is a delightful tax benefit.
Although I’m uncertain of what she’s planning — I already do know ma mariée has ordered magret de canard from a ruiniously expensive supplier: https://www.lesdixvins.cl/
If it were not for the pandemic — we’d be squandering all our profits at Les Fix Vin’s wine bar. (It’s close to our son and daughter-in-law’s apartment.)
The last thing your lovely mare needs..., is another expensive saddle...
Why don't ya try with some Argie Assertive Authority...?
That usually makes them better rides... ;-)))
I would tend to agree with your opinion — but just the freight cost was FAR more than USD300.
One nice advantage ordering a bespoke saddlery is they include a beautiful carry bag for no additional cost…
...and frankly — the surprise will hopefully tame the old mare/mère's tend to kick me in the groin when she's in a difficult mood.
Alas, grand-mère is this evening in Vitacura minding the grandchildren as their parents have a ‘date-night’ — as well as our youngest with her paramore.
This evening I’m left alone in peaceful bliss with a thick sirloin for the grill and an enormous purple-rose ‘Black Krim’ tomato for the evening.
Although it’s too early to pull a cork — I have anyway of a '07 Carménère.
(By the way — I did not surrender on the past thread — simply a strategic retreat with multiple humorous counter-attacks…)
As I’m alone this weekend at the farmhouse — my lunch today was from the old lady who makes delicious chicken empanadas on the weekends.
Weather in the Aconcagua Valley is perfect and noticeably slightly cooler than in January.
Unfortunately for our Canadian prolific contributor Teresa Hill — she is experiencing the worst Winter polar vortex plunging many Canadian cities to temperatures of minus 32⁰c (-25⁰f) and I imagine her misery.
- You better stop worrying so much about the cold in Kanukistan and start Thinking about keeping your chancleta away from Pangipüllü..., it's hot down there...
(I'm curious..., as an auld desk seawolf..., are you following them beautiful hydroptères from the Prada Cup in NZ...?)
Hundreds of millions of dollars and national pride + carbon fiber everything with hulls as thin as an eggshell with giant spider silk like sails crewed with a team will balls of titanium.
...but these almost mythical carbon fiber creatures seem to defy physics and all logical sense...
The hulls do seem to be as thin as an eggshell with giant spider silk like sails crewed with a highly skilled team with balls of titanium preforming sorcerery on the South Pacific with only a wisp of a breeze...

They don't need another fighter if they are not planning to attack another country.

Feb 05th, 2021 - 02:34 pm - Link - Report abuse 0You need some fast jet fighter cover in the event someone takes over a civilian airliner and tries to fly it into downtown BA.
The UK RAF actually provides such cover for the Rep of Ireland.
However Mt Pleasant is too far away to effectively do this for Argentina.

Feb 05th, 2021 - 09:18 pm - Link - Report abuse -1As long as she doesn’t insist on saddling me instead — although the leather is as soft as ma mariée’s posterior…
Certainly she has no idea and I know no bauble from the jewelers could come close to making her happier.
Thank you for the video which the I watched with sincere admiration.
As I've attached — we've had the horse-whisperer here in Chicureo and his equine philosophy truly impresses.

I note in another post you and I share an appreciation of chess…
I too clearly relate to practicing with computer bots — as I use the ‘DroidFish’ app on my smartphone.
It keeps my skills sharp and find it relaxing when bored while waiting for some bureaucratic nonsense.
(BTW the app is free. Also, a correction: Les DIX Vin)
Have a pleasant weekend on Ligurian Riviera.

I've only watched a few of the YouTube videos — but I look forward to watching in March.
I did watch the recent catastrophic equipment fail causing a vessel hitting it's mast to the water.

Although ma mariée and I are Chileans — I was educated at a British and herself at a French school in Santiago.

And yes, I really do admire the posterior of my Tango partner.
I apologize for not responding earlier, but we’re having an enjoyable weekend with our son’s marvelous family.
