You perceive that what Argentina would do is to colonize the islands expelling the population, or some sort of that, while in reality you know s...t what would happen. And at the same time, you believe the islands are not in a colonial situation, but it contradict the very situation that existed for the international community since the creation of the UN, and that is that the islands is and have always been under british colonialism, even now.

So, at least you should recognize they were, at some point, a british colony. Now the question is when did they ended their colonial situation according to you?.
Do you still think there is one form of colonialism?. Do you think that British Petroleum extract oil from Iraq for a free bidding of the people of Iraq or becouse Britain invaded them first?.
What Argentina would, will, could or wish to do with the islands are pure excuses for not negotiating sovereignty as requested many times by the UN. Those negotiations could mean arbitration, judgment, etc. and could change nothing, all, we really dont know. What we do know is that there are 10 territories under british colonialism in this century and that the british interests goes beyond the Malvinas dispute to the control of all maritimate surraundings and the antartics. So try not so much in being a naive to believe the british are the good guys protecting the weaks against the devil imperialistic and colonialistic of Argentina that had one war in over a century.

@ Liberato The Falklands were settled by the British in 1765 only the French beat them by 1 year, as there was no population Britain claimed the Islands.

Dirk Dikkler. there was a population in 1765. And the land was already claimed, settled and discovered by someone else. By 1765 the british did not controled the area they claimed not even the little islands they settled. They left in 1774 without achieve not one bit of sovereign right until 60 years later where they invaded for the third time what is now Argentina. They prevailed to this day with their colonial design.

So, what pre-dates the UN is british colonialism.

The UK can rely on the Peace of Utrecht, which explicitly bars any Argentine claim of succession.

The Nootka Convention: ”...Article VI provided that neither party would form new establishments on any of the islands adjacent to the east and west coasts of South America then occupied by Spain....... there was an additional secret article which stipulated that Article VI shall remain in force only so long as no establishment shall have been formed by the subjects of any other power on the coasts in question. This secret article had the same force as if it were inserted in the convention.......The United Provinces of the River Plate was not a party to the convention. Therefore it is defined in the convention as 'other power' and the occupation of the settlement (at Port Louis) by subjects of any other power negated Article VI and allowed Great Britain to re-assert prior sovereignty and form new settlements.
