Argentine foreign minister Santiago Cafiero has ordered an internal investigation to determine whether former deputy foreign minister Carlos Foradori back in 2016, became drunk during a meeting with British diplomats in which UK and Argentina agreed to an improved relationship through closer cooperation on areas of mutual interest, including a chapter on the Falkland Islands. Critics of the Argentine government’s strategies and rhetoric toward the Falkland islands have coined a new verb – malvinizar – to describe how the claim for and memory of the Malvinas is used simply to divert attention away from more serious domestic socio-economic challenges .

Anyone ever seen a signed copy of this agreement?

On Sept 28, 2016, Foradori denied signing anything.

All I can find is a Joint-Statement put out as a Press Release.

    Hmmmmmm...

    - If our esteemed Engrish Malvinas expert can't find no signed copy of the Duncan-Foradori agreement of Sep 13, 2016........, does that mean that all things Malvinas return to be as they were previous Sep 13, 2016... ! ? !

    Chuckle..., chuckle...

Seems to me, that on Sep 13, 2016 all that was issued was a statement of intent.

“South Atlantic: In a positive spirit, both sides agreed to set up a dialogue to improve cooperation on South Atlantic issues of mutual interest. Both governments agreed that the formula on sovereignty in paragraph 2 of the Joint Statement of 19 October 1989 applies to this Joint Communique and to its consequences.33 In this context it was agreed to take the appropriate measures to remove all obstacles limiting the economic growth and sustainable development of the Falkland Islands, including in trade, fishing, shipping and hydrocarbons. Both parties emphasised the benefits of cooperation and positive engagement for all concerned.
In accordance with the principles set out in the 14 July 1999 Joint Statement and Exchange of Letters, both sides agreed that further air links between the Falkland Islands and third countries would be established. In this context they agreed the establishment of 2 additional stops per month in mainland Argentina, one in each direction. The specific details will be defined.
Both delegations expressed their full support for a DNA identification process in respect of unknown Argentine soldiers buried in the Darwin cemetery. Discussions on this sensitive humanitarian issue will be taken forward in Geneva on the basis of an International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) assessment supplemented by bilateral discussions as required. Both sides agreed that the wishes of the families concerned were paramount. 34 Both sides agreed to establish a date for a fuller meeting as soon as possible.”

“Agreed”or “Intended”..., that 2016 “Intended Agreement” (that now, it seems, nobody wants to know nothing about ;-) is now..., for all intents and purposes..., inexistent...

Ergo..., all things Malvinas are already returning to be as they were previous Sep 13, 2016...

    Tænk is happy...

Yup .... have to go and unscrew all those name plates off all those graves....

Of course, when it comes to resources, 1991 was far more important and yet never gets a mention ;-)

    Copper...

    - As you well know..., the process to “screw all those name plates on all those graves”..., started much prior to 2016 and was just used that year to try to give some legitimacy to that..., for us Argies..., very unfavourable “Intended Agreement”...

    Having said that...
    - If you Engrish feel like it..., do unscrew all those name plates off all those graves...
    - It's certainly not our dead Argie boys that will be hurt by such a noble gestus...

    Capisce...?

    Btw..., Copper...

The short “Joint-Statement” you posted above does certainly look a lot like an “Agreement” the Macri administration followed on all points...:

    1) “...both sides AGREED to set up a dialogue...”
    2) “Both governments AGREED that the formula...”
    3) “...it was AGREED to take the appropriate measures...”
    4) “...both sides AGREED that further air links...”
    5) “...they AGREED the establishment of 2 additional stops...”
    6) “Both sides AGREED that the wishes of the families concerned...”
    7) “Both sides AGREED to establish a date...”...,It says...

-The Macri administration thought they were very cunning by calling it a “Joint-Statement” instead of an “Agreement” to avoid having to pass it through the Argie Parliament where it would have been voted down...

Very cunning indeed..., until our best Engrish Sepoy..., Sir Alan James Carter Duncan, KCMG..., couldn't resist his Engrish genetic haughtiness and had to include this Montypythonesque anecdote in his book...

    Thanks again..., Sir Alan...

See any signatures, Trunks? Cannot have an agreement without signatures.

    Funny people, the Argies, for evermore, Carlos Foradori will be known as the Argentine diplomat who signed away Argentina's resources whilst drunk. Despite;
    1) the only evidence that he was drunk is from a British diplomat who helped consume 7 bottles of wine; and
    2) Argentina did not have any resources to give away; and
    3) Carlos Foradori didn't actually sign anything.

Other than that, guilty as charged.

“Ergo..., all things Malvinas are already returning to be as they were previous Sep 13, 2016”.

    Great, before Sept 13 2016......

    The islands weren't Argentine
The islands had never been Argentine
The islands have no prospect of being Argentine

All there is is a country of 40 million trying to bully an island neighbour of 3000 people...and having their 'arris handed to them time and again.

    Its quite funny really.
