The Sunday Times couldn't be absent of an event such as the fortieth anniversary of the Falklands War and this weekend published an interesting, informative long piece, under the title of “What is life like on the Falklands Islands today?”. The article by Josh Glancy emphasizes on how much the once withering sheep farming Islands have advanced since Liberation from the Argentine invasion, and prospects for an even more self sufficient dynamic community. No mention at all of the recent April 2022 expose on ITV 'Falklands: An Island of secrets' about the endemic problem of child sexual abuse and its cover-up that even warranted an official investigation by the UK authorities an the arrest of the head of police on historic abuse accusations.

There is no “endemic problem of child sexual abuse”. That'll probably be why there is no mention.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention..., Mr. Pytangua...

As one can see..., anyone that wants to see the social problematic of small isolated communities like the Malvinas can see it on ITV...

-Happy to see though..., that assasinated Royal Marine Allan Addis unsolved case features predominantly in the series.first issue...

(I remember..., some 7 or 8 years ago..., one of our Malvinas Resident Anglo Posters..., Mr. Jo Bloggs..., had sort of a Freudian Slip and told me that Marine Addis “ had it coming”...
He then refused to get any deeper into the topic..., which is very saying...)

    Capisce...?

FitzRoy is in denial - the ITV reporter showed how he was denied access to interview victims on the Fitzroy estate, which occupies 25% of the land area of the main island. Was this was the British soldiers who died were defending? I think not.

    Ptyanga,
The reason the team were thrown out of the 3 big farms was simple- they had broken their word in what terms had been agreed when they first arrived - it was pointed out to them that on the farms today there is nobody who was there when the incidence occurred so nobody to try and get to spill some beans. Just maybe a bit or hearsay 3rd or 4th hand and twisted over the years and irrelevant as evidence.
Frustrated ITV then seized on the Underage Sex issue- Yes - but similar to what occurred in many small remote communities- Scottish Islands included- Channel Is as well. Thankfully all now well under control and good Social Services set up that kids can turn to
which was of course not available back then.
Funny ITV never mentioned any of the above?- well of course not - they wanted to create a juicy story that was not in fact reality.

What’s that old saying about people in glass-houses throwing stones.

2010 Human Rights Reports: Argentina - U.S. Department of State
Child abuse was not uncommon; for example, a University of Buenos Aires study released in April found that 9 percent of university students in Buenos Aires claimed to have suffered some form of sexual abuse before the age of 19. The survey investigated child abuse among a sample of 2,750 persons
