At a ceremony Tuesday morning held at Staffordshire's National Memorial Arboretum, British prime minister Boris Johnson praised the daring bravery of Veterans, recalling that on the very day, exactly forty years ago, British soldiers entered Stanley and liberated the Falkland Islands from foreign occupation. And since Liberation, the Falkland Islands have lived and thrived in peace and freedom looking into the future. Read full article

What pile of bullshit stone faced lies.
-- How about we start a list of all the instances in which the British Government DID NOT CARE about a people's “right to decide their own future” ? -- We certainly could not with the 2000 word limit these commentaries have!
Oh those don't matter SUDDENTLY? right? Clone Drone hypocrites! Every war ceremony cries out the same ol' song and dance word parade of lies, because it needs to paint over the disgraceful abuse of governments willing to kill people and children to secure their power and ambitions by allowing themselves to proceed with inhuman cold arrogance and pride at the expense of their subjects.
The islanders were used in 1982 and continue to be used today. Manipulated and lied to like most of the world is by their governments. The Islanders didn't know just how much they would needed a war OBVIOUSLY, to feel British and feel like they were something real. That is plain to see now. That war is the only thing that gives them some semblance of apparent solid identity, and Britain knew it would be like that. That's why it made sure it happened instead of seeking a peaceful solution over the territorial dispute. And because it knew it would be a huge blow to Argentina's historical sovereign claim to the islands once they lost, plus a way to specifically turn their social situation into much needed and useful resentment and animosity towards the whole country of Argentina, rather than seeing it as the actions a military occupation that was subjugating Argentina forcing its soldiers and the country to do practically at gun point what they would never have ever wanted to do against a country and people they considered friends. All so they could give the islanders motivation like they never had before. The islanders are now addicted to seeing Argentina as a foe so that the conversation never relaxes down to start seeing the plain truth again, thanks to a handful of ignorant islanders with archaic British imperial mentality

Trimonde, you are seriously deluded, Argentina has never Owned the Falklands legally, and never will unless the Islanders want that, the sooner you accept reality the better you will be for it, wasting your life on a fantasy and a pipe dream.

@trimonde Remember it was Argentina that invaded the Islands in 1982 so the War is on You Guys !, the fact that it brought about the end of the Military Junta is an added Bonus for You !!!

Wonderful bit of trolling by Trimonde, yes the islanders have no affection for Argentina, which invaded THEIR homeland and after being expelled by force has continued to claim it and say they have no right to the territory. Argentina is not interested in them and has tried to isolate the Islanders in every way. It may come as a surprise if you think that Argentina is important that nobody in the UK was much interested in the former Spanish colony before the invasion. Afterwards if successive governments had not made a fuss about the Falklands the UK would have resumed normal relations, as they have with Japan and Germany. We would probably be selling you aircraft and ships, although I believe two warships sold before the conflict were never paid for.

Trimonde's comments are always so bitter and vitriolic. I feel rather sorry for him. He will never experience his wet dream, “Malvinas” incorporated into Argentina. He had better just forget about it and move on because it will never happen.

”The British Government DID NOT CARE about a people's “right to decide their own future”

Well doesn’t that expose you as a complete utter liar.
It is a matter of public record that the UK has been instrumental in obtaining of independence of more countries than any other nation.

Why is this website so obsessed with a little island that's nothing but a mole on the ass cheek of South America? In real press outlets, I never hear about the, um, the Malvinas.

I remember watching the UK ships come home. How proud we were.

The war started with Argies laughing & celebrating and burning flags, and now the British are celebrating and have been for 40 years.

I love it when we destroy a junta and ita pathetic army

Britain's selfish suspicious nature of fear and insecurity based archaic prepotent condescending arrogance and pride that presumes in an already fully occupied world, it must continue to blindly combat expand and confront the world, flailing madly its medieval weapons in some kind of desperate competition to continue getting obscenely and avaricely richer and more dominant against whomever and wherever it cowardly feels it won't be hurt back too much and will allow it to get away with lying and producing falsities so it can continue fooling everyone about what it really is, @Forgetit87 Sorry, I could have been more thorough... but I don't feel like getting into it too much right now. ;)

Titmonde cannot answer the most simple questions when his delusions are challenged.

Pretty much every territory in the Americas has been subject to a territorial dispute at one time or another, be it Spain and Portugal, Spain and France, Spain and Britain, Britain and France, Argentina and Uruguay, Mexico and the US.

Ultimately they are resolved by the people who live in a territory choosing what they want. California, Quebec, Jamaica, Cuba, Argentina. Did it make everyone happy, no... Britain was a huge part of that, and voluntarily relinquished sovereignty of territores 1/3rd the surface of the Planet.

Trimonde would have us believe there is something special about the Falklands, that Britian would relinquish Canada, Australia, New Zealand, half of Africa, most of the West Indies voluntarility, but British avarice and colonialism means we desperately want the Falklands.

The day, the minute the Falkland Islanders want to stop being a British overseas Territory they can, if the islands were uninhabited Argentina could happily have them.

    They are not.

SO sorry trimonde, you can spew nonsense, but that is all it is nonsense.

More verbiage from Trimonstruosidades. He reminds me of Chopper, AKA Trollboy, who used to use a lot of archaic English words in here seven years ago, thinking nobody would understand him and thus prove his “superior” intellect. Trimonstruosidades is a more recent part of the the entertainment this site keeps giving, year after year....
