Brazil confirms 8th case of monkeypox in man with no travel record

Brazil's Health Ministry Monday confirmed the 8th case of monkeypox nationwide. The patient is a 25-year-old man from Maricá, in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, who does not have a travel record but has been in contact with foreigners.

Petrobras CEO Coelho bows to pressure and resigns

After barely 40 days on the job, José Mauro Coelho resigned as CEO of Brazil's state-run oil company Petrobras due to pressure from President Jair Bolsonaro and other politicians over a recent increase in the price of fuel, which drives inflation upwards ahead of the Oct. 2 elections.
