So a new Falklands governor is welcomed with a lovely ceremony. So different from the only time in history that an Argentine governor arrived on the islands.

In October 1832, when the Argentine government attempted to seize the islands by sending the SS Sarandi with Etienne Mestevier as governor. His “arrival ceremony” was to be murdered and for his wife to be raped by the crew of the Sarandi in front of their children!

The whole sorry affair was ended in January 1833 when the HMS Clio sent the murderous rapists packing!
