So neither country post UN Charter has held legal possession, of either of the claimed territories.

“Sabino Vaca Narvaja strongly defended the concept of “territorial integrity” on which Beijing argues its claim over the “rogue province” of Taiwan, and which Argentina likewise applies to the Falkland/Malvinas Islands in its sovereignty dispute with the United Kingdom.”

    Hans Kuijper wrote the following:
The Treaty of Peace with Japan was signed on September 8, 1951 in San Francisco by 51 Allied Powers but without any Chinese participation. Article 2(b) thereof merely stipulated that “Japan renounces all rights, title and claim to Formosa and the Pescadores,” without making any provision for the State which would succeed Japan in exercising sovereignty over Taiwan.

Treaty of Peace, supra note 51. It does make clear, however, that this renunciation covers the Spratly and Paracel Islands, in addition to other claimed parts of Taiwan, including the Pescadores.

Argentina’s strange views on territorial integrity.

The Argentine claim of “territorial integrity” is barred under international law from applicable as it is retroactive of UN Charter definition.

“the principle of non-retroactive application of law, which prohibits the application of law to events that took place before the law was introduced”

China is shit out of luck, as the residents of Taiwan with a legal certainty can rely on “self-determination” which is the winning-hand.

Of course they could be “friends”. Both countries want to take over islands off their coasts against the will of the islands' populations. Taiwan and the Falkland Islands have no right to exist and no right of self determination according to the governments in Beijing and Buenos Aires. The Kremlin has the same attitude towards the Ukrainian people. They are “Russians” whether they want or not and should be part of a Russian Empire. The Taiwanese are “Chinese” and the Falkland Islanders are “Argentines”. Such aspirations are dangerous and can create terrorist states.

Where does this “territorial integrity” stop. Is Cuba part of the USA, is New Zealand part of Australia? Is Ireland part of the UK or the UK part of France.

If you can claim islands 1000 miles from your coast (as the Falklands were in 1833) based on geography, then we will need to redraw the world map.

Argentina is definitely part of Brazil
