Nigel Phillips sworn as Governor of St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha
Last Saturday 13 August, Nigel Phillips CBE, accompanied by his wife Emma, arrived to assume the office of Governor of St Helena, Ascension, and Tristan da Cunha. Governor and Mrs. Phillips were met at St Helena Airport by the Acting Governor, the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, and the Aide de Camp and were escorted to Plantation House. Governor Phillips' last appointment was Governor of the Falkland Islands.

Hundreds of Magellan penguins washed ashore by a cyclone in southern Brazil
Hundreds of dead Magellan penguins have been gathered at beaches along the coast of Santa Catarina state, southern Brazil, apparently surprised by a subtropical cyclone when their annual migration from the south of the continent, Chile, Argentina, and the Falkland Islands towards warmer waters with more food.
