If the numbers are correct, you have to wonder why there are so many unoccupied dwellings in the first place. Something is seriously distorting the marketplace. Unless of course renting out a house puts such onerous conditions and costs on landlords that it’s much easier and cheaper not to rent it out. With that much empty housing stock property prices and rents should be comparatively low in BA. Has the city suffered a major de-population in recent times and no one has noticed? Check the figures.
