I don't think this GDP metric is reliable, or even realistic.
Bra, the gdp difference between the two south atlantic islands is the cost of the conflict for kelper businesman. Kelper nation could easily have a gdp 10x times bigger in a non conflict situation.
The GDP per person in the Falklands (2010 figures) was about $70,000 USD, the GDP per person in Tierra del Fuego province, about $20,500 USD.
What is there to sell? Agricultural products (wool/meat), fishery products (squid, fish), and tourism services. Seems to keep the place going OK for now. Apart from defence from an aggressive neighbour, the economy is self-sustaining.
I challenge you to compare both gdps, instead of per capita compare both per km2.
In Falkands case the gdp/per capita is not a good index because of the low population of the islands.
