Argentine Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero Tuesday said during a bi-continental forum in Cape Verde that the military presence“ in the South Atlantic of extra-regional powers, such as the United Kingdom, was ”not in accordance with the times and the current practices of multilateralism and international law“ and deemed the situation was ”unacceptable.” Cafiero also denounced the presence in the Malvinas/Falkland Islands of Kosovo Security Forces. What twaddle. The only aggressors in the area are the Argentines.

Funny how the Argentine powers never accept that the very reason there is a British military force stationed on the Islands is because Argentina refuses to accept that the Falkland Islanders want to live the lives of their choosing. Not one imposed upon them by a dictator.
If Argentina were to drop all sovereign claims over the islands and removed the campaign from their constitutions, then Britain would reduce even further its military presence in the area. It will never totally remove its presence because we know that Argentina will always pose a threat to the welfare of the falkland island people .
Argentina has it's own military presences in the region yet we dont see them removing that any time soon.
Argentina has lost all trust and respect that they once had because of their aggressive actions towards a peaceful people.
They insist on negotiations with only one final outcome and that is for Britain to give them sovereignty over our islands. That is not going to happen, so Argentina will continue to Harass us with their embargoes. No one in there right mind would think of leaving the islands exposed and vulnerable to Argentinas persistent threats.

Let me see now, with 6 territories (5 BOTs) in the South Atlantic, stretching from the equator the S. Pole itself, the UK cannot be described as an ‘extra-regional power’.

Where the British presence in the S. Atlantic is far older than Argentina in any form.

The fact is Argentina are the ‘new kids on the block’ in that part of the world, not the UK.

Nothing ‘illegal’ about a country occupying its own territory, Sr Cafiero.

Perhaps you should be more concerned about the ‘legality’ of Argentinian occupation of Puelmapu and TDF???

Argentina needs to be willing to ‘engage in diplomatic negotiations’ with the people most affected by this, the inhabitants, if they will talk to Argentina, wouldn’t blame them if they won’t.

Argentina is in direct violation of every UN resolution there is Re: de-colonisation and self-determination.

Not to mention an entire government department (with budget to match, while people starve in Argentina) replete with minister (Sr Carmona) who’s only purpose is to change the status quo by introducing unilateral modifications to the situation, seeking to exercise Argentinian control over the British territories of the S. Atlantic.

In direct contravention of UN resolutions such as 31/49.

They have even printed the maps and put them up in schools, like that changes anything.

Also, UNGA resolution 1514, the De-colonisation declaration, enshrines the right of the inhabitants of the NSGTs to ‘freely dispose of their natural wealth and resources’, amongst other things.

You can go back to sleep now Sonny, they will pull your string next time they need you to jump up and spout your Sh*t.

Of course, matters are completely within the legalities of international law. Thus, the most basic of legal maxims are in play.

“No one can take advantage of his own wrong”. That’s why claims based on fraud are of no legal effect. So that, vox populi are meaningless, and evidence is everything.

Yet again a complete misrepresentation of the truth, how very Argy of you, for a Dansk.

Maths is clearly not your strong point as there are no figures here to work with.

The article only describes the Argy position and makes no mention of the position of the other countries.

So, where is this ‘Twentyfour (24)’ in favour???

Remembering how all of S. America supports the Argy blockade of the Malvinas, except ships dock in Chile (sailing through Argy Territorial waters to get there and back, not that Argentina knows WTF happens down there) and planes (military) still land in Brazil, so frequently the Argy ambassador cannot keep count without taking off his shoes and socks.

Anyway Britain is not a signatory/member to this organisation, agreements only apply to the parties that sign them, not third parties.

P.S. Did you check out about your house insurance???

There must be elections coming up. None of this bleating is really doing much for the rate of inflation in Argentina.

I find it very hard to believe that the majority of Argentines actually fall for this kind of bollocks, to be honest. What is he doing about the slow invasion by China into South America and Africa? Is he going to do something about the Departement of French Guiana? Perhaps, were Cafieri actually as serious as he purports to be, he should take his argument to the ICJ?

Oh Dear “Thick” is off on one again....

The people who invaded, killed and enslaved in the Americas are the ancestors of those Latinos and Anglos who are still there (not the British or Spanish who are in Europe)...there is no morality in the independence of Latin or North American countries from their “colonial masters”. Its like burglars breaking into your house, killing your family and leaving the gang that sent them once they'd looted enough to be self sufficient, and claiming that your house is now theirs!

The only People in the Americas who were not part of this colonialism is the Falkland Islanders as the islands had no indigenous people, and they didn't steal the territory from anyone. The joke of them being the only “usurpers” is about as ironic as its possible to be.

One of the great rewritings of history is that somehow independence of the American colonies somehow made those who claimed independence less responsible for colonialism than those who never went there!

“ARGENTINA APPEARS CONFUSED. GREAT BRITAIN IS A REGIONAL POWER IN THE SOUTH ATLANTIC”
Soon to all change though when China builds it's new military base . Wonder if the complaining Argentines will complain about that happening. If it does then clearly their idea of being unhappy about militarising the South Atlantic will be a sick joke.
Mind you Argentina right now is a sick joke.
Cant look after their people. Dont know how to run the economy. Dont know how they will begin to get out of debt. Dont acknowledge that every piece of land they call Argentina was stolen from a people.
Argentina is a complete joke in the eyes of the world. Mythical claims of owning land they have never owned. Mythical claims that everyone supports them. You could not make it all up.
In truth Argentina really does not exist, it is a land created by a bunch of pirates who saw an opportunity to ethnically cleanse a large part of South America and colonise it.
Oh dear colonising is something Argentina refuses to allow. But perfectly ok when they do it themselves.
What a bunch of misfits. I think their concerns of increased military activity in the region is nothing when you see the complete self destruction of their own stolen land.
They have blead that country dry and it is now in dire straits which is causing them to panic and accuse everyone around them for causing it.

Make a decent argument or backtrack.

Just so I can show that I am being fair

UK - Legislation was passed or tabled that seriously undermined human rights, including replacing the UK’s primary human rights protection instrument and attacks on the rights to freedom of assembly and expression and to asylum. Further proposals were launched that would provide impunity for grave human rights violations. Effective access to sexual and reproductive support remained inconsistent across the UK.

Or maybe you can’t do that.

So, Still no mention in this article of any of the other 24 countries being ‘in favour’ of the Argy position.

They, ZPCAS, support negotiations to resolve the dispute and nothing else.

They have never stated any support for Argentina’s claims over territory or assertion the UK is an extra regional power.

    Doubtful they ever will.

It claims ‘deep support for Argentina in the Malvinas issue’ however later it admits that what ZPCAS actually said was:

‘Member States therefore once again urged Argentina and the United Kingdom to resume negotiations on the sovereignty of the Malvinas Islands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands,’

No mention of any support for Argentina’s claims over territory or assertion the UK is an extra regional power.

It is surprising to read in another entry that the British did not withdraw after 1771. What a big lie!
Instead I must congratulate the excellent contribution of Roger Lorton's papers.
According to him Spain claimed only one island, which is not true. If you read the documents provided by him, he mentions island and islands in the plural.
Also that the marks and seals belonging to the King are left on the buildings on the outside and inside.
It differs from the case of British withdrawal because the Spanish remained occupying the islands, and their marks were destroyed without British protest. When the Spanish withdrew there was no British settlement.
It is also read that instructions were given so that once a year a ship would watch over the islands so that no power would occupy them.
I do not understand how this document helps the British position, quite the contrary, it demonstrates Spanish sovereignty and by extension Argentine sovereignty.
    Capisce?

1833, its irrelevant if we left the Falklands, we did not give the claim up , just like many of the islands in the Pacific, you inherited nothing from Spain, not Cuba not any Caribbean island and certainly not the Falklands, you have been given the facts over and over again and you you still repeat the same old nonsense which has been debunked over and over again, why did the United Provinces send a military force ? to take the islands by force knowing full well the UK already claimed them, you were warned twice in advance not to send them and warned again to leave when they arrived, BA did not think the UK would do anything about it, how wrong you were as you were in just like you were wrong in 82, so now 1833 or Taenk or Liberato or Trimonde or whatever name you choose to call yourself, the matter is settled whether you like it or not, the islanders choose their future not you not BA, so stop wasting your life with desperate arguments on a myth a lie and a fantasy, move on and get a life, its too short to waste.

No. It is not irrelevant. It's irrelevant to you because you're trying to hide the story.
I wonder: why couldn't the United Provinces send military forces inside their own territory?
You lie, the United Kingdom did not claim them, there were no claims to Spain after the British withdrawal from their clandestine settlement.
There were also no claims in 1820 during the takeover of the United Provinces. This fact was published in The Times of London.
    https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archivo:The_Times_-_Argentine_Capture_of_the_Falkland_Islands_1821.jpg

The United Provinces had possession of the islands long before the belated, unjustified and bad faith claim by the United Kingdom.
    https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archivo:The_Times_-_Argentine_Capture_of_the_Falkland_Islands_1821.jpg

Well that got a reaction, so you were not completely pissed.

So you admit that in that link, the Argy Gov link, there is no mention of any ‘support’ for Argentina’s territorial claims or assertion of the UK being an ‘extra regional power’.

    Good start.

I know the statement of the VIII meeting has not yet been published’ derrr.

Which is why I said, ‘You could start with this’, note the ‘start’ in the sentence.

But don’t worry, as soon as it is published I will post you the link, the Argy Gov link and fear not it will say the same and also will not mention any ‘support’ for Argentina’s territorial claims or assertion that the UK is an ‘extra regional power’.

Just the usual call for a negotiated settlement of the (alleged) dispute.

But you already know that, forlorn hope doesn’t really cover it with you, does it???

    Malv
As I have said to you before, British claims (Malvinas, S. Georgia/S. Sandwich Islands and Antarctica) are very old, Argentinian claims are very new, you need to prove when these territories stopped being British before you can talk about them being Argentinian.

Or, they are simply not Argentinian and never will be.

I’ll give you a clue, 1820 is way, way too late, Capishhhh
