Attorney General Simon Young suggested the most controversial topics needed to be addressed first and leave the easier ones for later as the people of the Falkland Islands prepare to review their Constitution. Read full article
Argentina would be even past the end of any list .
It will be an interesting debate because the current right to vote was set after 1982 with clear intentions to stop any Argentine duel passport holders ever getting on the register of voter's.
It could be sorted quite easily and that is make it possible for commonwealth duel passports including falkland islanders who are also commonwealth's people as well to be able to vote and stand for council. But exclude every other foreign national who has no connection with the British commonwealth.
That would not be discrimination. Argentina being a prime example in case, they refuse to remove the Falklands from their constitution so islanders should be allowed to exclude them from accessing our democracy.
Likely cause a few arguments but who cares.
Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...
How Turnipy can a Turnip be...???
The above Turnip writes...:
- ”It could be sorted quite easily and that is make it possible for commonwealth duel (dual) passports including falkland islanders who are also commonwealth's people as well to be able to vote and stand for council. But exclude every other foreign national who has no connection with the British commonwealth. That would not be discrimination.”
I say...:
- Above Turnip has lived his whole turnipy life in them extreme scarcely populated windblown Malvinas Isles and has never noticed that about 10% of them Islands population are toilet cleaners et al of Chilean origin who have no connection with the British Commonwealth...
- Above Turnip..., who has lived his whole turnipy life in them extreme scarcely populated windblown Malvinas Isles has never noticed either that about another 10% of them Islands population consist today of mailorder brides of Filipino origin who have no connection with the British Commonwealth...
Poor old Taenk. What he does not know is that there are many foreigners who are outside the commonwealth who have applied and got permanent residence status because they want to make this place their home. Each and every one is means tested to weed out potential undesirables and it works. The reason for the change to the constitution is that local born Islanders who have been lucky enough to obtain dual status are being denied the same rights as foreigners with dual passports. But as I have said before the reason this law was adopted was to stop people of undesirables coming here and having the right to vote that may not be to the best interest of the community. The wording of that law is where the issue is. It can be fixed and still keep out undesirables. Does that register with your addled brain.
Changing the constitution is relatively simple. And this review is partially driven as Falklands-Free states. Argentina could change theirs if they thought long and hard.
Geeeeeeeeeee...
Look at them haughty Anglos above...
They fill their mouths with words as Democracy& Human Rights...
Democracy & Human Rights alright..., but only for Anglos..., seems to be their line...
The above Anglo Turnip CLEARLY STATES that them Chilean toilet cleaners only right must be to continue to eat shiat and them Filipino mailbrides only right must be to continue to get fkucked...
As the same above Anglo Turnip says...:
”Likely (to) cause a few arguments but who cares.”
Taenk. So glad you are where you are. Just imagine what our place would be like if people like you had control. Oh I keep forgetting, for 74 days you had control and in that time your lot treated this country as a huge toilet. Never in our history had we seen so much garbage and human excrement.
You degrade the chileans and Peruvian people because just like us you dont like them either and you think we treat them all as bits of dirt. I would prefer a thousand of those people to the likes of one of you.
They come here knowing that they will be paid , have a decent home to live on and a regular job.
They like it so they apply for status and if they meet the requirements they will get that status. If they dont then they wont. Simple.
But as usual you are unable to see anything in the middle. You resent us so badly that you cant even make an adult comment.
No wonder Argentina is in the state it is in when people like you live among them.
At least here everyone is treated in a fair way.
Could somebody please be so kind to inform the above Brainwashed Anglo-Kelper Turnip..., that the ~200 FILIPINO MAILORDER BRIDES in MALVINAS are being bought at & shipped from the PHILIPPINES ISLANDS..., NOT from PERÚ...?
The Bloggs family is happy because it looks like we’re getting a new shower. Don’t get me wrong, the old one still works well enough most of the time but the new one will be better. It will have more controls to make sure the water is always exactly how we want it.
The new controls will be much more responsive too; so that changes in temperature and flow rate, even type of flow, can be adjusted quickly and precisely to suit the occasion. And because our regulations differ from many other countries there’s no need for one of those new age fashionable energy saver roses either. God knows why we ever bought one in the first place.
We’re also upgrading the extractor fan. What a treat.
It’s going to take a while to have it installed but the effort will be worth it. Mrs Bloggs is very excited.
To the best of my recollection I have never engaged the services of a plumber in my entire life- and that includes building two of my three houses myself- and installing a new shower is hardly likely to trigger the need now. I thought someone who claims to be Patagonian would understand how self-sufficient one needs to be when living somewhere fairly remote.
I can feel those multiple controls at the tips of my fingers already.
You say...:

(In me own Patagonian case..., a ~three hours camioneta drive (if them brooks ain't to swollen) to the nearest big town of ~1,500 souls...)
- But..., in 2023..., Sqidllionairetown Puerto Estanley..., if still geographically faIrly remote does not fit in the Fairly Remote category anymore...
- Anyhow..., I WASN'T COMMENTING on MR. BLOGGS SELF-SUFFICIENCY..., but 'bout MRS. BLOGGS EXCITMENT... :-)))
Old habits die hard, Think and I do love a bit of DIY. I no longer work on my own vehicles and I pay others to do many other things for me but I still tend to cling onto building DIY. I find it very relaxing.
Mrs Bloggs has just about banned me from the taller ladders now though. The meany.

What a Turnip...!
Well, the ~2,500,000 implanted Argies in Puelmapu get a vote and look what happens, its part of Argentina.
May 18th, 2023 - 10:05 pm - Link - Report abuse +1You can’t really blame anyone for not wanting that to happen to their land, can you!
As to this debate, I would suggest that who someone is, should be more important than where they are/were from.
Just a thought.
