Uruguayan Foreign Minister Francisco Bustillo Monday told his Mercosur colleagues in Puerto Iguazú that “from the first day we warned that Mercosur had been won over by immobility” and insisted no progress regarding deals with other countries or blocs had been achieved during Argentina's pro tempore presidency of the alliance ending Tuesday.     Feel sorry for the Uruguayans. It's a well run,safe and smart little country that punches far above it's weight and generally well regarded from a European perspective.Sat on the door-step of corrupt and incompetent Argentina must be constantly galling.Would be a much happier part of the world in the Argentine government spent more time on improving the welfare of it's people and less on thieving from them. Oh.. and also less time fretting over the Falklands.

    Uruguai's biggest trading partner is Mercosul itself. We all want Mercosul to grow and expand, but without compromising our reindustrialization and sovereignty, including environmental sovereignty.
