    Former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori (1990-2000) was released from the Barbadillo prison in Lima Wednesday after long hours of red tape entanglements followed Tuesday's decision by the Constitutional Court to uphold the pardon he had been granted by Pedro Pablo Kuczynski back in 2017 which was later overturned by judiciary measures. Fujimori, 85, was serving a 25-year prison sentence for crimes against humanity.

    Brazilian authorities said no casualties were reported and measures to gauge the potential environmental damage were underway after the Liberian-flagged oil tanker Minerva Rita, carrying 18,000 m³ of Naphtha and 8,499 m³ of gasoline, had her hull damaged after running aground on Monday about 170 kilometers from the State's capital down the Amazon River en route from Manaus to a refinery in Itacoatiara.

    Japan reopens door to Argentine poultry products

    The poultry meat and eggs exported to Japan must have been produced after Dec. 5, 2023.

    Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries lifted all restrictions on poultry products from Argentina in force since February this year following outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in the South American country, it was reported.
