These are an old early version of the F16- hence Denmark keen to sell them and replace
them with F35s. Thus still way behind the 5th generation Eurofighter Typhoons based here.
But no doubt Denmark will need to see the cash first anyway.

“Denmark’s plan to sell 24 of its 43 F-16A/B fighters”

It isn't Denmark's plan at all.

The US was very uncomfortable with the thought that Argentina was about to buy Chinese-developed and Pakistan-made JF-17 Thunder or Indian-made HAL Tejas from China. The plan is a US initiative.

The US suggested that now when Denmark received its F-35s they could help out by selling its old F-16s or Indian jet fighters.

Buenos Aires Times wrote about it in July 2023: https://www.batimes.com.ar/news/argentina/the-us-steps-up-pressure-on-argentina-to-choose-danish-f-16s-over-chinese-or-indian-fighter-jets.phtml

The UK has already lifted the military embargo, which has been restricting Argentina's access to the international arms market, imposed by the UK after the Falklands War.

29 January 2024 MercoPress brought an article about it: “Argentina chooses US-built F-16 fighters over Chinese JF-17s” en.mercopress.com

@JuanCervantes , No, I would have preferred them to acquire the Chinese JF17 with PL15 and PL17 beyond visual range missiles.
In any case, it is a good deal for interior security, they are economical jets with a 15-year useful life. serves to avoid losing human resource capabilities, 600 million for 24 jets is a gift.

It is also collaborative with Russia, the fact that these jets do not go to Ukraine, it is a collaboration for peace

    Argie

What possible reason can Argentina have for obtaining some clapped out F16s?

'Internal security' What's that supposed to mean? Who are you going to use them against 'internally'?

    Who's going to maintain them?
    Who's going to fly them?

In 5 years time you'll be using them as gate guards.

@darragh Internal security, means have the capacity of a supersonic jet to intercept a civil plane hijacked by terrorists and be able to shoot it down, preventing it from crashing into civilian targets.

In addition, the Argentine air force has historically been characterized by having highly trained pilots. Having 24 jets... allows us to have a squadron of 200 or 300 trained pilots, as we always had.
More modern aircraft can be purchased if necessary in a matter of days, but you cannot have the human resources ready... that takes time.

The chances of ever having 6 serviceable at any one time is slim. Realistically, 3 would be a challenge.

Who would like to hazard a guess at how many highly skilled and experienced personnel are required to keep just one F16 ready to launch 24/7, let alone actually airborne for an hour? Any answers under 20, don’t even bother posting.

It will be fun watching Argentina fuck this up.

    Mr. Shogun...

    - With the little difference..........., that them Belgian, Danish, Dutch & Norwegian 1970's Vintage F16 Fighting Falcons the West is so generously going to “donate”..., eventually..., when the “time is right & the sun shines from a cloud-free sky” and them Ukrainian Mavericks have become profficient enough in Engrish so they can begin to be De-Programmed from their baaaaaaad SOVIET Era pilots habits and commence their gooooooood Patriotic NATO Era training for the Glory of the Great & Victorious Ukraine............. will be a -“GAME CHANGER”-, as our beloved Western Press keep assuring all of Us....

    Tinky

If they are no use to the trained Ukrainians then they are only good for scrap in the untrained Argentine Scared Force

    Paddy just above...

I couldn't agree more with ya' 'bout that...!
I do also like your fitting “Scared Force” definition...
Me personal favourite remains though...: “Armed Farces”...

    - (Both apply all over the World... “Strong against the Weak..., Weak against the Strong”..., kind of..., ya' know...?)
