    Quinteros stressed that 99% of the fires were man-caused

    At least 11 people have been arrested in the Argentine province of Córdoba for their alleged involvement in starting the current which elicited President Javier Milei's presence late Wednesday. Córdoba Security Minister Juan Pablo Quinteros has already admitted that “fires, in 99% of the cases, are started by human hands.”

    Voepass announces major board reshuffle after Aug. 9 crash

    Brazilian carrier Voepass Wednesday announced a major Board of Directors reshuffle in the aftermath of the Aug. 9 accident of an ATR-72 aircraft flying in from Cascavel crashed in Vinhedo while approaching Sao Paulo's Guarulhos Airport. All 62 occupants of the aircraft were killed. Among those resigning were the heads of the maintenance (Eric Cônsoli), operations (Marcel Moura), and operational safety (David Faria) department,s and their replacements have already been chosen but are awaiting the National Civil Aviation Agency's (ANAC) nod.

    Poor rainfalls are expected to keep affecting the already low Paraguay River, according to local and foreign experts who gathered Wednesday in Asunción at the invitation of the Meteorology and Hydrology Directorate (DMH). Hence, there were no encouraging forecasts at least until December this year.

    According to a report from Uruguay's National Statistics Institute (INE) released in Montevideo Wednesday, unemployment in the South American country stood at 8.4% of the economically active population in August, which represented a slight setback from July's 8.3%.
