Brazilian army officers arrested for planning to kill Lula

Five Brazilian Army officers were arrested this week in connection with their involvement in Operation Green and Yellow Dagger, an alleged plan to kill then-President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in 2022. The strategy also included taking down Vice President-elect Geraldo Alckmin and Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre De Moraes.

French supermarket chain to halt sales of Mercosur meat to boycott FTA

Carrefour CEO Alexandre Bompard announced this week that his company would not be selling meat imported from the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) in a move to prevent the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the European Union from pulling through. France's largest supermarket planned on suspending meat imports from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay “in solidarity with the agricultural sector.”

ICC issues arrest warrants against Israel's PM and others

The International Criminal Court (ICC) Thursday issued arrest warrants against
Israel's Primer Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant as well as Hamas leader Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri, also known as Mohammed Deif, for crimes against humanity and war crimes in the Gaza Strip, it was announced at The Hague. The measure was in acquiescense to Chief Prosecutor Karin Khan's request filed back in May. Khan had also sought warrants for two other senior Hamas figures, Yahya Sinwar and Ismail Haniyeh, who have since been killed by Israeli forces.
