Paraguay: Peña backs official who cut ties with DEA and backtracked

Paraguayan President Santiago Peña insisted that Jalil Rachid should not resign as head of the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (Senad) despite sending a note to the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) stopping all cooperation and then recanting after finding out an agreement dating back to 2022 was in force.

Russian diplomats in Buenos Aires invoke immunity to skip breathalyzer tests

The Russian Embassy in Buenos Aires filed a protest Wednesday before the Argentine Government of President Javier Milei after traffic police tried the test three members of the diplomatic mission for alcohol.

Fur seal sighted in Rio de Janeiro

The City Council of Niteroi, in the Brazilian State of Rio de Janeiro, said Civil Defense agents and biologists were monitoring a fur seal spotted on Itaipuaçu beach, in Maricá, last Sunday, Agência Brasil reported. The area was cordoned off by local authorities, it was also explained.

The former managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Spain's Conservative deputy prime minister, Rodrigo Rato was sentenced on Friday to four years and nine months in prison by the Madrid Provincial Court.

Falklands Men’s football team invited to the Orkney Games 2025

It is summer time in the southern hemisphere and there is plenty of sports activity in the Falkland Islands. And not only has a cricket pitch been inaugurated as well as a club house, pavilion and bar, but also the first match against an MPC team was won by Stanley.

At least 29 survivors reported in Brazilian-built airliner crash

A Brazilian-built Embraer E-190 jet of Azerbaijan Airlines registration 4K-AZ65 carrying 67 people crashed near the Kazakhstani city of Aktau Wednesday, killing 38 people, while 29 others, including three children, were rushed to emergency services for treatment. The passengers included 37 Azerbaijanis, 16 Russians, 6 Kazakhstanis, and 3 Kyrgyzstan nationals.

The results from the first round of consultation on the national minimum wage accommodation offset have now been published. The survey ran from Tuesday 24th September to Sunday 3rd November 2024, with consultation events held in Stanley, Port Howard, Goose Green and MPC.

Brazil aerospace industry receives strong loans to promote manufacturing and exports

Uruguay has received a small transport aircraft, Brasilia, from Embraer, the big neighbor’s aircraft manufacturer, and also has an order for six A29 Super Tucanos fighters. Brasilia is a small communal transport of up to thirty passengers, but that can also be used for ambulance and rescue operations.
