There seems to be no love lost between former US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Chief Elon Musk and President Donald Trump following their disagreements over the budget bill. Musk denied having seen the bill before it was passed.
While Trump claimed Musk was angered by the Republican administration's stance on electric vehicles affecting the tycoon's Tesla industries, the South African-born magnate upped the ante, saying Trump was a regular at Jeffrey Epstein's sex island. He also supported the idea of impeaching Trump on social media. Trump argued that he had helped Musk significantly and that they once had a strong relationship. I took away his EV mandate that forced everyone to buy electric cars that nobody else wanted, Trump said in a Truth Social post on Thursday. He just went crazy!
I don't mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done that months ago, Trump also said.
Musk contributed an estimated US$ 250 million to Trump's campaign. Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House, and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate, Musk said on X.
Following their public argument, Tesla's stock dropped significantly. Trump hinted at the possibility of canceling federal contracts with Musk's companies. In response, Musk suggested creating a new political party, which received strong support in an online poll.
