One miner killed, five still missing in Chile

A 4.2 magnitude earthquake at around 5.30 pm Thursday triggered a collapse at the El Teniente copper mine in Chile’s O’Higgins Region, killing one worker and injuring nine others, with five of them still missing Friday afternoon. The incident occurred 1,200 meters underground in the Andesita project. The fatal victim has been identified as Paulo Marín Tapia.

US tariffs: Argentina and Uruguay charged only 10%

Trump announces 35% tariffs on Canadian products

US President Donald Trump has raised the tariff rate on Canadian imports from 25% to 35%, effective August 1. Chile: All tsunami warnings called off

All tsunami threat warnings for Chile were completely canceled after the National Service for Disaster Prevention and Response (Senapred) confirmed Thursday that, based on data from sea level stations and other models, the emergency caused by the 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Russia has officially ended.
