Disclaimer & comment rulesIrish farmers will take direct action if Mercosur beef is allowed into the country. We've spent years cooperating with the UK to produce the world's best beef. We will not sit idly by whilst the EU allows the import of beef from countries where foot and mouth is endemic.

Posted 19 hours ago - Link - Report abuse 0‘Best’ beef will be good from any of the above, certainly comparable quality, the last time I ate all three, best Chilean beef as well, Texan can also be in that class.
The issue is with the bulk product, S. American beef can vary greatly in quality, unlike the in the UK and Ireland where it is far more consistent.
This deal always was going to struggle given the power of the Agri lobby in the EU.
CAP is still around 40% of the total EU budget.
