Today, Wednesday 3 June at the Court and Assembly Chambers Town Hall, beginning at 09:00, the Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly will be holding an assembly, open to the public.

Under Papers Laid on the Table by the Falklands’ Chief Executive include questions from MLA Roger Spink related to the costs and benefits of an Islands’ delegation participation at the recent IAATO Marketplace Expo and AGM, held in Annapolis, United States.

Likewise the Legislative has to consider budget papers, such as the draft Finance and Appropriation bills, that will be formally tabled and formally enacted for the start of the financial year, July first.

MLA Spink said “it was pleasing to see many Falkland Businesses involved in tourism attending this event promoting the Falklands as a destination and boosting the tourism offer.

“However, it was difficult to understand why during a period of budget pressures why in addition to representatives from the publicly funded Tourist Board attending that not one, but two members of the Government funded Falkland Islands Development Corporation also attended.

“I would assume there is a comprehensive trip report shared with the FITB Board members, which could have been with better coordination, shared with the Development Corporation Board rather than spending scarce public funds on travel together with the valuable time staff are away from undertaking their other tasks?”

Questions were addressed to MLA Cheryl Roberts, “was this a good value for money,? And, Will there be a presentation on the outcomes and benefits of this attendance to the Islands?

Other motions for the meeting to be delivered by MLA Jack Ford are the reports from Executive Council held on 12 and 22 May and 2 June, plus several bills on the coming budget, The Appropriation Bill 2026, The Capital Appropriation Bill 2026, The Finance Bill 2026 and Offshore Petroleum (Environmental Impact Offsetting Trust) Bill 2026
