Falklands debates immigration inflow ahead of oil industry development

Disclaimer & comment rulesWell, as a person whose grandparents were Falkland Islanders, I find in amazing that I can’t get even a look in at settling there. I still have relatives on the islands, was brought up with a lot of the values and expectations that my cousins were. But because I was born before the 2009 constitution change and my parent was born in the UK. It’s not an option for me.

Yet, the legal framework treats the population not as an ancient distinct nation, but as a strictly managed, artificially gated colonial demographic where even direct ancestral lineage guarantees zero rights.
Settler-Colonial Selectivity: A true nation bound by historical self-determination doesn't shut out its own diaspora based on technicalities like whether a parent was born in the UK prior to a 2009 constitutional tweak. It exposes the fact that “Status” is an administrative visa category managed by a British Overseas Territory, not an organic national identity.
The Self-Determination Loophole: Claiming full sovereign rights to self-determination usually implies a cohesive, self-sustaining historical people. Using imported UK law to lock out actual descendants proves the demographic is actively curated and maintained by administrative decree, rather than existing as an autonomous, self-generating populace.
Nothing quite undermines a grand geopolitical argument about an indigenous “pueblo” exercising high international rights quite like finding out your own granddaddy's roots aren't enough to bypass a modern UK border control algorithm.
Their is no flaw in the islanders defence of their right to SD enshrined by the UN, just because his Grandparents not parents where born in the Falklands does mean he is automatically a Falkland Islander, the Falklands government decides who lives in their homeland and who has the right to stay, your post is nothing more than desperate long winded piffle, the islands where British long before you existed as a country and they dont need self determination as an argument, their is plenty of other evidence too, and when its all presented together it blows the Malvinas MYTH out of the water,

Despite having strong cultural, societal and familial links to the islands.
The Falkland diaspora has many skilled workers globally, they can contribute to the islands and help to maintain the Falkland Islanders heritage, because it’s their heritage also.
Argie Zit, the Falklands are home to people from 66 nations from around the world, they are welcoming to anyone who has skills or business to help the economy , for the economy and population to grow it needs people but it also needs the infrastructure for them and that takes time, and expensive, a short pause for granting permanent residency is not really an issue, their are no indigenous people for the Falklands, they where empty when Britain claimed them in 1594, unlike main South America where the Spanish (your ancestors) most certainly did steal occupied land as did your Argentine ancestors , your post is utter and complete complete nonsense. but hey. but keep on living in your fantasy world of lies and distortions about the Falklands if you get your kicks from it. such a sad way to live a life.

Zit, aka Javier, you are a clown, the UN has said all people have the right to self determination with NO exception, your protest was rejected, you are a liar too, the land was British long before you existed, and it is you who broke British integral territory twice, but you know this and continue to lie about it. the only squatters are all the white people that live in Argentina, the only eviction was of an illegal UP military force, no one else, 4 civilians left voluntarily , 2 Brazilians and 2 from Uruguay, like all fanatics you only see what you want to see and you clearly have a mental block with facts and truth, join a circus their is a shortage of clowns, or even better book an appointment with a shrink.

yes we agree on that, all peoples had right of self determination,but the islanders dont fit on people description, they are inhabitants with another fundamentals rights

Now you are being deliberately obtuse and acting like a complete dick. the 2065 resolution that you desperately cling to is irrelevant to self determination, the minute the Falklands comes off the pathetic so called colonial list then 2065 disappears permanently , when a country is decolonised its handed to the people that live there, not to a grubby country wanting something that has never been theirs, it does not say the islanders dont have the right to SD either , they 100% do, the fact that now the FIs are a self governing overseas territory also makes 2065 completely meaningless, neither the islanders or the UK are under any obligation to talk about sovereignty. you are reading something in to it that does not exist.

you have no legal leg to stand on regarding the Falklands, its their land and they decide, not a bunch of clowns claiming something that didnt happen 200 years a go, now hypocrite, lets talk about the right of SD for the natives of Patagonia who you almost wiped out,
