Falklands government extends all offshore oil licences for five years
The Falkland Islands Government announced on Monday the extension of all existing offshore hydrocarbons production licences, for an initial period of five years with a further two optional years at its discretion, and said the decision has “the full support of the UK Government”. Read full article

To add to this euphoric atmosphere the Argentine Foreign Minister stated, ''This is a historic opportunity for Argentina. We have taken a great step in the demarcation of the outer limit of our continental shelf; the most extensive boundary of Argentina and our border with humanity,'' Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra told La Nacion, which tomorrow will publicly announce the details of this resolution. The Argentine government called the decision a ''resounding success'', which was determined in early March in New York and supports the Argentine position on the existence of a dispute between the two countries, which will enable the country to move forward on projects offshore oil fields over areas not yet explored. The Argentine's can sense that, and meanwhile it checks and funnels the desires and human rights of their populace.

So true vet, its time every ambassador at every embassy and consulate around the world, exposed the Argentine lies about the islands and give them the facts, and then do the same with the embassies in the UK. starting with Chile, Uruguay and Brazil.

Firstly, title based on contiguity has no standing in international law.
International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the North Sea continental shelf cases, in which Denmark and the Netherlands based their claim inter alia on the doctrine of proximity, i.e., that the part of the continental shelf closest to the part of the state in question falls automatically under that state's jurisdiction. In these cases the ICJ rejected any contiguity type of approach. As for continuity, it is argued, the 1958 Geneva Convention on the Continental Shelf and Contiguous Zone, Article 1, now contained in the 1982 Law of the Sea Convention, Article 76, does not support the view that coastal states have sovereignty over islands above the continental shelf. On the contary it laid down doctrine that islands had their own “continental shelves,” p.74

Brazil is big enough to just ignore them, as all 3 will be looking with interest at the offshore development and production and most likley prepared to allow their private sectors to make good money from supply of materials and goods over the next decade or two.
