  Vizzotti, Manzur land in Tucumán as healthcare workers catch pneumonia

  

  Argentine Health Minister Carla Vizzotti and Cabinet Chief Juan Manzur arrived in Tucumán Friday after five healthcare professionals were reported to be suffering from pneumonia. Manzur is also a physician and a former federal Health Minister (2009-2015), in addition to being the current Governor of Tucumán, albeit on unpaid leave while discharging duties for the federal government.

  Residents in the Argentine town of Villa Mascardi deemed unacceptable Thursday the proposal extended by Human Rights Secretary Horacio Pietragalla Corti whereby Betiana Colhuan, a self-proclaimed machi (Mapuche leader) who eventually garnered additional support from members of the indigenous community, have access to the land she claims to be sacred to her and her ancestors of the Lafken Winkul Mapu group.

  Taiana says UK attitude a “lack of respect for international law”

  

  Argentina's Defense Minister Jorge Taiana Thursday demanded once again that Great Britain agrees to discuss the Malvinas/Falklands issue and insisted that the latter's reluctance to do so was a “lack of respect for international law.” Taiana also argued that “the powerful should not use force to impose their interests.”

  Argentina's trade surplus in 2022 shows significant drop

  

  Argentina recorded a trade surplus in 2022 of US$ 6.923 billion, according to a National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec) report released Thursday. It was a significant setback from the US$ 14.751 billion recorded in 2021, particularly after additional restrictions were placed on imports in the second semester after Super Economy Minister Sergio Massa took office.

  Buquebus orders largest 100% electric high-speed catamaran ferry in the world

  

  Shipbuilders Incat Tasmania has begun construction of what they claim will be the world's largest electric ferry boat. The 130-meter-long unit has been ordered by Buquebús, the company offering passenger services between Buenos Aires and the Uruguayan ports of Colonia and Montevideo through the Río de la Plata. It will have room for 2,100 travelers and 226 vehicles, it was reported.
