  Repsol has made a significant new oil find in the deepwater area of the Gulf of Mexico, in US waters. The discovery was made in the Buckskin well in Keathley Canyon, 300 kilometres offshore Houston.

  Brazil's government managed oil and corporation Petrobras announced that the first semi-submersible platform built entirely in Brazil, went on stream Sunday, beginning the production of well MLS-99, in the Marlim Sul field, in the Campos Basin.

  Petrobras averaged 2.4 million bpd output during 2008

  

  Brazilian government managed energy giant Petrobras produced an average of 2.4 million barrels per day of crude and natural gas at its operations inside and outside Brazil in 2008, an increase of 4.3%, or roughly 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, compared to 2007.
