  At least 18 killed in São Paulo heavy rains

  

  Brazilian authorities Sunday reported at least 18 people had died in the state of São Paulo following heavy rains which also left nine other people injured and over 500 families homeless. Among the fatal victims, there were seven children and other four people who were missing, São Paulo Governor Joao Doria explained.

  Second oil spill spotted near Repsol refinery in Peru

  

  A new oil spill has been spotted off the multi-buoy Terminal 2 of Repsol's La Pampilla refinery, Peru's Navy and the Environmental Assessment and Enforcement Agency (OEFA) reported Tuesday.

  Spatial Segregation of Seabirds at South Georgia

  

  The latest edition of the South Georgia Newsletter refers to seabirds, which are amongst the most globally threatened birds, often as a consequence of incidental mortality (bycatch) in fisheries. At South Georgia, wandering albatrosses have declined since the 1970s, and are listed by the Agreement on the Conservation of Albatrosses and Petrels (ACAP) as one of nine global High-Priority populations for conservation.

  Climate change concern: Gentoo colonies moving further south

The discovery is a cause for concern, according to the researchers, who say that climate change is expanding the range of this temperate, non-ice-loving species of penguin.
