  EU deforestation bill threatens Latin America and African countries

  

  European lawmakers and EU member states inked a deal on Tuesday, December 6, to ban the purchase of products such as cocoa, coffee, and soybeans that contribute to deforestation, increasing the pressure exerted on Brazilian exports. The list also encompasses palm oil, wood, beef, rubber, and derivate products like skins, chocolate, furniture, and paper.

  Europe bans imports of products involving deforestation

  

  The European Union Wednesday banned the import of products such as soy, meat, or wood that might involve deforestation in their processes. The measure also reached leather, furniture, palm oil, paper, cocoa, coffee, and rubber and their byproducts.

  Some 2,500 seals have been found dead on the Caspian Sea coast in the southern Russian province of Dagestan, officials said on Sunday. Carcasses were discovered at various locations in and around Makhachkala, the coastal capital of the republic.

  Uruguayan scientists for 2022-23 season arrive at Artigas Base in Antarctica

  Falklands part of the global climate crisis, both in consequences and attempts to find solutions

  

  Falklands Conservation has called for a commitment to a net-zero greenhouse gas target for the Falkland Islands by 2050 - in line with a range of other nations from around the globe - as CEO of Falklands Conservation Esther Bertram said that without action “the Falklands are part of the global climate crisis, both in feeling the consequences and in trying to find solutions.”
