  On April 25/26 1982 British forces launched Operation Paraquet which enabled the recovery of South Georgia, the first UK victory and defeat for the occupying Argentine forces in the Falkland Islands and its dependency.

  Israel's Navitas Petroleum has been banned from all activities in Argentina for the next twenty years for involvement in the hydrocarbons industry in the Falklands/Malvinas zone without Argentine permission.

  Co-authors of a paper on seabirds in the Falkland Islands, winners of the Ecological Society of America's top award

  

  A study on seabirds in the Falkland Islands was recently selected as the winner of the Ecological Society of America's W.S. Cooper Award. The winners of the prestigious award are co-authors Jacquelyn Gill, associate professor in the School of Biology and Ecology and the Climate Change Institute, and Kit Hamley, Ph.D. candidate in the Climate Change Institute.

  New BAS aircraft to ensure transport between Falklands and Antarctica

  

  The British Antarctic Survey has signed a contract for a replacement aircraft to ensure transport between the Falkland Islands or South America to the research station at Rothera, Antarctica. The contract was signed by Professor Dame Jane Francis, Director of BAS, Nigel Bird, Director of Major Programs at UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and Brian Love, Chief Commercial Officer, Field Aerospace

  ”Recognition '82’,” special edition gin to commemorate Falklands War and Chatham Dockyard workers

  

  A Kent distillery has created a Navy strength gin to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Falklands War. “Recognition ‘82” has been made by the Copper Rivet Distillery based at Chatham Dockyard, which played an important role in the conflict.

  The Argentine officer who terrorized and favored a final solution for Islanders during the Falklands' occupation

  

  The visiting Argentine reporter Hugo Alconada Mon who spent time in the Falkland Islands reporting for the Buenos Aires daily La Nacion, on the 40th anniversary of the April 2nd Argentine military invasion and occupation of the Falklands, has included a story on an Argentine army officer.

  Falklands: Covid-19 community transmission confirmed at MPC, protective measures recommended

  

  Protective measures for all Falkland Islands residents are being advised following a number following a number of cases of COVID-19 being confirmed at MPC. The Commander British Forces South Atlantic Islands implemented a number of precautionary measures at Mount Pleasant Complex (MPC), following a number of positive COVID-19 cases which were identified outside of quarantine it was announced on April 15. This action enabled BFSAI and the Falkland Islands Government to understand the situation in depth.
