  Falklands new Abattoir raises doubts over Islander participation.

  A series of positions in the Falklands newly constructed Abattoir (Slaughterhouse) are not all designed for ex-patriate officers who will be recruited from England, said Head of the Falkland Islands Development Corporation, Richard Baker. Speaking at a public meeting in Stanley this week, Mr. Baker said that ?hopefully we will get some local (Islander) applicants, 4-5 at least'.

  Falklands population “shocked” at Defence Chief's suspension.

  The Falklands population are reeling at the news of the suspension of the local head of the Falklands Islands Defence Force (FIDF), Major Marvin Clarke. In the 110 years of the existence of the local Falklands Defence Army, never previously has the Commanding Officer faced such a humiliating experience and during a public meeting held in Port Stanley on Tuesday evening, Falklands Councillors refused to discuss the suspension of Major Clarke.
