New Falklands port gets green light to proceed as part of ambitious infrastructure investment program

Last Friday 10 September 2021, the Falkland Islands port project received ExCo (Executive Council) approval to proceed to Stage One B, Detailed Design, which will take place over the next 13 months. Stage One A began in July 2020 and involved an extensive series of stakeholder workshops, surveys, demand studies and environmental assessments in order to produce the initial Concept Design for the new facility.

WTO resumes negotiations on fisheries subsidies; agreed text should be ready by December

World Trade Organization country members resumed this month fisheries subsidies negotiations following the August break and the chair of the rounds Ambassador Santiago Wills from Colombia said the objective was to produce a clean text on fisheries subsidy rules ahead of the 12th ministerial conference next December.

Argentina prosecution sustains Tierra del Fuego bill banning salmon breeding

Argentina's Prosecution office considered that the Tierra del Fuego province bill establishing limits, and rulings for the breeding and production of salmon species in provincial jurisdictional waters “do not exceed limits of the reasonable” and besides were approved by the Legislative in “the full exercise of its environmental competence, which privilege the conservation of natural resources above considerations of other nature”.
