Acoustic survey finds twilight zone in Southern ocean an emporium of fish, BAS report

A new study highlights there could be up to four times more fish in the mesopelagic, or ‘twilight’, zone of the Southern Ocean than previously thought. Scientists at British Antarctic Survey and Bristol University discovered that by accounting for different acoustic properties of fish, the biomass, or total weight, of mesopelagic fish is likely to be 1.8 – 3.6 times higher than they previously calculated.

Saskatchewan to lift all Covid-19 restrictions following protests

The Canadian province of Saskatchewan will lift as of midnight next Sunday all originally imposed as a responde to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was announced Tuesday. The new measures are a consequence of protests demanding a new approach at the disease, which is currently less severe as opposed to the economic consequences stemming from lockdowns and other limitations imposed on people.

US Army instructed to discharge unvaccinated soldiers

The Army of the United States Wednesday announced it would start discharging soldiers who are not vaccinated against COVID-19. As of January 26, 96% of the military were fully vaccinated, while 3,350 had refused to take any injection.
