  Falklands: Planning Committee unanimously recommends rejection of plans for the new port

  

  The Falkland Islands Planning and Building Committee (PBC) has recommended, unanimously, that the current plans for the new port to be refused by Executive Council. Following the decision the committee adjourned to provide written reasons, --environmental and shortcomings--, to Executive Council (ExCo) for consideration when making the final decision whether to accept or not.

  Residents in the Chilean Port of Valparaíso have reported sighting the historic USS Kitty Hawk as she was being towed through the Pacific Ocean on her way to her final scrapping.

  Argentine Navy to launch second LICA next week

  

  The Río Santiago Shipyards (ARS) are ready to launch their second cadet training boat (LICA) March 16, it was reported Tuesday, after the ARA Ciudad de Ensenada hit the waters in October last year. The new boat will be named ARA Ciudad de Berisso.

  New sports facility for Falklands: an artificial all-weather pitch, and a multi-purpose sports hall

  

  The Falkland Islands Executive Council has given final approval to the National Sports Council (NSC) to proceed with the construction of a new national sports facility for the Islands. This follows the signing of a Development Agreement in April 2021, and subsequent work to develop a detailed Concept Design.

  FIFA clears way for players, coaches in Russia and Ukraine to change jobs

  

  Football's governing body FIFA Monday agreed to suspend foreign players' contracts in Ukraine and Russia until June 30, thus allowing them to continue their careers elsewhere. The same measure applies to coaches and team staff.

  Founding stone for relocated naval base in Ushuaia with its own wharf

  

  Argentine Minister of Defense Jorge Taiana and the governor of Tierra del Fuego province, Gustavo Melella laid the founding stone of the Ushuaia Integral Naval Base, which will replace the current naval base, and will be built in two phases including 15.000 square meters military wharf.
