    Presidents of Bolivia and Paraguay arrive in Rio for G20 guest appearances

    Presidents Luis Arce Catacora of Bolivia and Santiago Peña of Paraguay landed Sunday night in Rio de Janeiro to participate as a guest of the G20 Summit, to be held between Nov. 18 and 19 in the former Brazilian capital.

    Argentina: Arrest warrants issued against 61 Brasilia rioters

    The extradition requests were filed through diplomatic channels on behalf of De Moraes

    Buenos Aires Federal Judge Daniel Rafecas issued arrest warrants for 61 suspects involved in the Jan. 8, 2023, riots in Brasilia, who had sought shelter in the neighboring country, Agencia Brasil reported. Rafecas' measure is the result of the extradition requests filed by Brazilian diplomatic authorities on behalf of case rapporteur Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre De Moraes.

    Crew members Sailors from Ice Patrol HMS Protector, A173, and their Chilean allies paid homage to British sailors lost in one of the first great naval actions of World War 1. One hundred and ten years to the day that the Royal and German Navies clashed three dozen miles off the coast of Chile, the icebreaker ship’s crew joined Chilean sailors for a service of remembrance in the city which gave the battle its name: Coronel.

    Venezuela's Ambassador to Brazil Manuel Vadell returned to Brasilia on Thursday after two weeks in Caracas for consultations, thus ending the diplomatic crisis between the two countries. The diplomat announced this move through a video published on social networks. He had been summoned to Venezuela on Oct. 30, after Nicolás Maduro's regime said that statements by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's Foreign Affairs Advisor Celso Amorim were “interfering and rude.”

    Monsalve will remain in custody until Tuesday's hearing

    A judge in Santiago Friday adjourned until next Tuesday the arraignment hearing of former Interior Undersecretary Manuel Monsalve, who has been charged with allegedly raping a member of his staff. Whether he would also be held accountable for the abuse of power he is believed to have exerted to conceal the facts is to be decided at another stage. In the meantime, Monsalve will remain in custody at an Investigative Police (PDI) detention facility after being arrested on Thursday at his Viña del Mar home.

    Falklands remembers losses at the battle of Coronel

    A poppy wreath hangs from the memorial tablet of those lost on November first 1914 from HMS Good Hope and HMS Monmouth.

    The Falkland Islands also remembers those involved in the naval battle of Coronel off the coast of Chile with the loss of 1,600 lives. In effect a memorial tablet is dedicated in Stanley’s cathedral to Rear Admiral Christopher Cradock and the Officers, Warrant Officers and Men of HMS Good Hope and HMS Monmouth lost at Colonel on 1 November 1914.
