The Falkland Islands government Chief Executive, Andy Keeling in an open statement has thanked all those involved in the response to the Sea Lion Island fire since Friday 8 March.
Following approval from ExCo on Tuesday 23 January, the Falkland Islands Government in joint working with British Forces South Atlantic will be able to proceed with “in principle approval” for Phase Two of the Mare Harbour Wind Farm.
The Management Trainee Program which was re-launched in November 2020 as part of a two-year initiative aimed at identifying possible future leaders of government has now been concluded, and following their appointment as Management Trainees, Shannon Alazia and Ariane Brownlee have now successfully completed the program.
Next March 19, a 'compassionate' charter flight with a capacity for 168 passengers, will be flying to Chile from the Falkland Islands, returning Saturday, April 9, 2022. The flight will only stop in both Punta Arenas and Santiago on the outbound and return journeys.
Andy Keeling, the new Chief Executive for the Falkland Islands Government is due to arrive in the Islands next week to start the transition of power following a month-long handover with current Chief Executive Barry Rowland. Mr. Keeling will undertake two weeks of quarantine before start working with Mr. Rowland, the Falkland Islands Government announced on Monday.
Following the recent selection process to appoint a new Chief Executive for the Falkland Islands, successful candidate Andy Keeling and his wife Anya will travel to the Islands on 9 November for a three-week familiarisation visit. Andy was given a conditional offer in September 2020, with the expectation that he will take up the post in April 2021.
