A man dead and one injured following a collision between a boat and a whale in Australian waters

Authorities in the east coast of Australia said on Saturday one man was dead and another injured after a whale collided with their fishing boat. New South Wales state police said the incident took place at around 6 a.m. local time in the waters off La Perouse, 14 kilometers southeast of Sydney.

Massive strand of dozens of pilot whales in Western Australia

Some one hundred pilot whales ended stranded on a beach in Western Australia on Tuesday with wildlife officials announcing 51 had already died on Wednesday. The whales were spotted swimming near Cheynes beach east of Albany early on Tuesday, but by the afternoon the beached whales covered a stretch of the shoreline, despite earlier efforts to guide them back to sea.
