As the Argentine congress started to debate an end to the 15-year litigation, United States District Judge Thomas Griesa sent a new message of support to Argentina by claiming he won’t allow any attempts to seize the funds to be used by Argentina to pay the holdout creditors.
A group of hedge funds, including George Soros’s Quantum Partners and J. Kyle Bass’s Hayman Capital, is seeking a 226 million Euro interest payment on Argentine bonds from Bank of New York Mellon, BONY, that was blocked by a United States judge last month.
Vulture funds are not interested in negotiations, and all they want is to get hold of the money for re-structured bonds holders, said Argentina's Ministry of Economy in a release made public late Tuesday, the last exchange on the ongoing battle in a New York court with holdout hedge funds.
