Canadian PM meets Queen Elizabeth face to face post COVID-19

Queen Elizabeth II Monday met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in what was her first face-to-face encounter with anyone outside her innermost circle after recovering from COVID-19. Trudeau was on a trip to the UK for talks on the war in Ukraine with his British and Dutch colleagues, Boris Johnson and Mark Rutte, respectively.

Spain's Fisheries Minister Luis Planas has called the sinking of the “Villa de Pitanxo“ off the coast of Canada the ”worst tragedy for our fishing fleet in 38 years”. Mourning in Galicia following the loss of a trawler off Newfourndland: ten dead and eleven missing

The Xunta of Galicia, the government of the northeast of Spain will declare a day of mourning in the region following the sinking of the trawler “Villa de Pitanxo”, off Newfoundland, with the loss of ten lives and another eleven who remain missing. The tragedy occurred on Tuesday in the midst of a North Atlantic storm, and despite a huge rescue effort only three out of 24 crew members managed to survive under hypothermal conditions.

Saskatchewan to lift all Covid-19 restrictions following protests

The Canadian province of Saskatchewan will lift as of midnight next Sunday all originally imposed as a responde to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was announced Tuesday. The new measures are a consequence of protests demanding a new approach at the disease, which is currently less severe as opposed to the economic consequences stemming from lockdowns and other limitations imposed on people.
