The conflict involving lorries trying to cross from Argentina into Chile through the Cristo Redentor-Libertadores pass has now escalated to the point of involving some 3,000 trucks stranded in the middle of the Andes, allegedly due to ultra meticulous sanitary requirements on the Chilean part.
As announced last week, Chile is opening its borders as of July 26 to nationals and foreign residents stranded abroad since March on the condition that they are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
The Government of Chile has announced it will open the country's borders since July 26 for vaccinated nationals and foreign residents. The country completely closed its borders last April and has so far required anyone allowed in to observe a mandatory quarantine at a sanitary hotel, a measure which will remain in force for the unvaccinated.
