  Jeremy Corbyn discards prospect of a second Brexit referendum

  

  Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has played down the prospect of the party offering a second referendum on the Brexit deal, after Mayor of London Sadiq Khan suggested it was “possible” it might be included in the next Labour manifesto. And in comments which may dismay Labour supporters of EU membership, the party leader said that he saw “positives” in Brexit.

  European Court of Justice with no jurisdiction in the UK after Brexit, says PM May government

  

  The UK will no longer be under the “direct jurisdiction” of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) after Brexit, a government policy paper will say. Ministers say they want a “special partnership” with the EU, but it is “neither necessary nor appropriate” for the ECJ to police it. However critics say the word “direct” leaves room for the ECJ to still play a part.

  Theresa May has been told to “wake up” and realize that Britain is moving towards a “chaotic Brexit” after European Union leaders agreed there can be no parallel exit and trade talks. At a crunch European Council summit in Brussels, leaders of the other 27 EU countries agreed their negotiating guidelines and insisted talks must take a “phased” approach.
