  Spain's Iberia returns to Carrasco with 2.300 seats a week on the Montevideo-Madrid route

  

  Spain's flag carrier Iberia made its return to Uruguay on Monday after being out of the South American country's market for 18 months, marking the resumption of a route that will offer up to 2,300 seats to travelers on a weekly basis. Iberia, a unit of IAG, will be providing service on the Madrid-Montevideo and Montevideo-Madrid route with four weekly flights.

  The Uruguayan government announced it will auction next 3 September the seven Bombardier aircraft from the collapsed flag air-carrier Pluna, which was definitively grounded last July 5, announced Public Works and Transport minister Enrique Pintado.

  Uruguay’s flag carrier Pluna “indefinitely grounded” and most staff redundant

  

  Uruguay’s flagship carrier Pluna said on Thursday that is was “suspending all flights indefinitely” and announced that 720 of the 900 staff would be sent on unemployment pay until a new associate for the company is found or the airline is definitively sold.
