  UK fishing industry questions new impractical EU rules on quotas and discards

  

  New European Union rules on fishing quotas could have a “grave” impact on the UK's fishing industry, a House of Lords committee has said - just a day before the new policy is introduced. Under previous rules, crews often discarded, into the sea, fish that took them over their quota for that species. But under the new policy, fishers must bring the full haul back to shore. This change is to stop fish being wasted.

  Venezuela: Maduro regime will be a “facto government” since 2019

  

  Academics of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) debated between December 20 and 26 on the constitutional end of Nicolás Maduro's office term between 2014-2019 and propose three clear lines against the question of the oath of office on the 10th of January. The new period (2019-2025) won't be recognized by the International Community.

  RBS applies for a banking license in Germany; the bank already has on in the Netherlands

  

  The Royal Bank of Scotland has applied for a German banking license to help it retain clients in the European Union in the event of a no-deal Brexit. The move applies to all its subsidiaries, but would only affect NatWest, which trades across the bloc.
