  Green hydrogen hub planned in northeast Brazil

  

  A US$ 5.4bn green hydrogen hub has been planned in Ceará, northeast Brazil, and most probably the first-of-its-kind in Latin America. Set to be located at the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex (CIPP), 60km from Fortaleza, the hub will be built by Australia’s Enegix Energy.

  Brazilian government trying to recover control over its overloaded prison system

  

  Police and soldiers are being deployed in large numbers to Brazil's northeast to fight a wave of gang violence fueled by the overloaded, collapsing prison system. More than 400 elite federal troops have been sent to the city of Fortaleza and the rest of Ceara state to reinforce overwhelmed local cops, who face a dramatic rash of attacks on government buildings, buses, police stations, banks and bridges by well-armed gang members.

  Drugs related shootings in northeast Brazil kill 14 in a nightclub

  

  At least 14 people were killed in a shootout at a nightclub in Fortaleza, in northeastern Brazil, officials said on Saturday. “We can confirm 14 deaths,” Andre Costa, security secretary for the state of Ceara - of which Fortaleza is the capital - told a press conference.
