    Argentine hostage in Gaza confirmed dead

    Argentine national Lior Rudaeff, one of the victims believed to be in the hands of the terrorist group Hamas after the Oct. 7, 2023, incursion into Israeli territory, was actually killed during that attack, the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires confirmed Wednesday. Aged 67, Rudaeff became the 38th fatality out of the 132 people kidnapped into Gaza.

    Colombia breaks up with Israel over Gaza deployment

    Colombian President Gustavo Petro Wednesday announced that his country would be severing diplomatic ties with Israel as of Thursday over the latter's military deployment in Gaza at the behest of its “genocidal” head of government. Petro also insisted that “if Palestine dies, humanity dies.”

    UK Forces.net has reported that a Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessel will provide accommodation to hundreds of American soldiers and sailors in the eastern Mediterranean who are helping to deliver aid to Gaza. The US military has started the construction of a temporary pier off the coast of Gaza to facilitate the delivery of vital humanitarian aid.

    Press freedom advocates worldwide expressed concern Monday after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he would use newly passed temporary legislation to shut down the local operations of the Qatar-based Al Jazeera news service. The new law will only be in effect for 45 days and must be re-approved every 45 days, expiring on July 31. The judges have three days to decide whether to “amend” the decision or limit its duration.

    Brazil's Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira told his country's Senate Thursday that Israel's “blockade of humanitarian aid in the current context of famine and lack of medical supplies in Gaza is a violation of international law,” Agencia Brasil reported. The administration of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “continues to systematically hinder the entry of trucks with humanitarian aid at the borders with Gaza,” Vieira denounced.
