Gibraltar Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and Spanish town La Linea Mayor Gemma Araujo agreed the creation of a cross-border joint working group that will be examining all aspects of the fishing dispute with Spain.
Gibraltar Chief Minister Fabian Picardo received at Convent Palace neighbouring La Linea Mayor Gemma Araujo to review issues of mutual interest and concern, during a meeting followed by a press conference which was described as very positive.
Gibraltar and La Linea are meant to “share a common socio-economic future” Chief Minister Peter Caruana declared Tuesday in the neighbouring Spanish town hall after his first official meeting with the new Socialist (PSOE) mayor Gemma Araujo.
To promote good neighbourly relations and closer ties between Gibraltar and La Linea, the Spanish town Mayor, Gemma Araujo, hosted a Gibraltar Day at the official municipal pavilion of the La Linea Fair.
Spain’s ruling Socialist (PSOE) coalition candidate for mayor in La Linea, neighbouring with Gibraltar, promised to rebuild relations with the British Overseas Territory if she wins the forthcoming municipal election.
