  Former Bolivian president Sánchez de Lozada sentenced to 6 years in jail

  

  Bolivia's Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) Tuesday sentenced former President Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada (1993-1997 and 2002-2003) to 6 years in jail for signing numerous oil contracts without parliamentary approval. The 94-year-old former head of State resides in the United States and it remains to be seen whether he can be extradited.

  Bolivia's Justice Minister Iván Lima Wednesday said his country would seek the extradition of former President Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada from the United States to be held accountable for extrajudicial executions in October 2003.

  US court rules against former Bolivian President Sánchez de Losada and a close aide

  

  A Florida federal judge Tuesday upheld a decision to have former Bolivian President Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada (2002-2003) and former Minister of Defense Carlos Sánchez Berazaín pay 10 million dollars in reparations to the victims of uncontrolled state repression.
