A single ticket sold in the state of Wisconsin matched all six numbers in the Wednesday night Powerball drawing to win the third-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history. Due to strong ticket sales, the jackpot climbed to an estimated US$ 768.4 million at the time of the drawing with a cash option of US$ 477 million.
The National Lottery said the win is the fourth biggest in UK history and follows a series of big British lottery successes in recent years. A further 10 UK players have each pocketed £1m after the Millionaire Maker codes on their tickets were picked.
A US$ 451 million mystery is over. 20-year-old retired background screening worker from Florida claimed the fourth-largest jackpot in Mega Millions lottery history, lotto officials confirmed. Shane Missler, of Port Richey, was the lone winner of the Jan. 5 jackpot. He elected to take a lump sum payout of US$ 281.2 million, officials said.
