  Gibraltar complains about queues at the border with Spain; drop in tourism expenditure

  

  The Gibraltar Government has included the long queues of last Thursday afternoon at the frontier with Spain in its latest report to the European Union. Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia said the report will be presented “in order to draw attention to the manner in which the Spanish government is implementing the recommendations made by the commission”.

  EU team begins collecting data on Spain/Gibraltar border crossing row

  

  A team of European Union inspectors are visiting Gibraltar to investigate a border row that has caused diplomatic tensions between the UK and Spain. London and British Overseas Territory Gibraltar complained to the EU that Spain's over-zealous checks on border traffic were holding up workers and tourists. Spain accuses Gibraltar of not doing enough to combat cigarette smuggling.

  Spain wants to ban photos and filming of security forces ‘on exercise of their functions’

  

  The Spanish government challenged by growing protests and street demonstrations and a possible national strike next month is considering a ban on photographing, filming or reproducing images of police and state security forces that are on duty, according to officials.
